Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows users to add tracks directly to their Spotify library with just one click.
The goal of this integration is simple: to provide users with a quick and intuitive way to discover and add tracks to their Spotify account via Instagram. Users will need to connect their Spotify account to Instagram, and once this connection is established, every track added through Instagram will automatically be placed in their “Liked Songs” playlist, as well as in the “Your Library” section of their Spotify app.
However, this feature is quite similar to the “Add to music app”. feature that TikTok launched last year. TikTok’s feature lets users directly add a track they hear in a TikTok video to their library on the streaming platform of their choice, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. The platform has since expanded the feature, making it available with Melon, a popular music streaming service in South Korea.
This global trend highlights the growing importance of social media in music promotion and their role as a gateway to streaming platforms — social channels are now an essential part of music discovery.
Instagram’s new feature is currently being rolled out worldwide and will be available on both iOS and Android. To take advantage of it, users need to ensure they have the latest versions of the Instagram and Spotify apps installed on their device.
