Amazon Music & Discord team up to take the listening experience to the next level with “Listening Parties”

Amazon Music and Discord teamed up last month to improve user engagement via online music sharing with the introduction of the “Amazon Music Listening Party” activity.

“Amazon Music Listening Party” allows Discord users to synchronize their Amazon Music libraries directly within the chat platform. This feature not only allows users to listen to music and podcasts as a group, but also to create shared playback playlists, where each member can contribute to the playlist in real time. This level of collaboration enriches the social experience around music, an aspect often neglected in traditional streaming services.

However, it is important to note that this feature is exclusively reserved for paying Amazon Music subscribers. Aware of this potential barrier to adoption, Amazon Music has wisely introduced a 3-month free trial offer. This initiative aims not only to attract new users, but also to demonstrate the added value of premium subscription in a social context.

The integration between Amazon Music and Discord is not only a functional innovation, but also a major strategic opportunity for Amazon Music to extend its reach. Indeed, Discord, with over 200 million monthly active users, offers a massive and engaged user base. As we reported in a previous report, Amazon Music currently stands in fourth place among global music streaming platforms. Faced with giants such as Spotify and Apple Music, this collaboration could help the platform increase its market share by attracting a new audience.

For artists, this feature can be an opportunity to organize live listening events on Discord, enabling their fans to discover new tracks or albums in an interactive way, to strengthen their bond with their audience.
