Recently, Spotify announced in an article that the platform’s podcasts featuring learning content are proving a real hit with listeners. With the aim of continuing to engage this community, Spotify has decided to test a new format: video learning.
For the moment, this is a test in just one market, the UK, where Spotify is offering a selection of video courses in partnership with four partners: BBC Maestro, PlayVirtuoso, SkillShare and Thinkific.
These courses are not free: Spotify users will be able to try out at least two lessons from each course during the test period before deciding whether to purchase the suite, after which they will be able to view them on mobile or computer. The videos feature music-focused courses such as writing, acting in musical theater, songwriting and music production.
So today, Spotify is no longer limited to audio: video content is gradually taking its place alongside audio on the platform, creating new opportunities.
